THE FATE OF FALLEN ANGELS AFTER CHRIST MATTHEW 25:41 (Thirteen)

INTRODUCTION: In our last lesson we noted that some evil Angels were imprisoned before the flood. This lesson we will look at what the New Testament holds for them.

I. PROPHECIES ABOUT THE FATE OF FALLEN ANGELS FROM THE O.T.

A. Zechariah 13:1-6

1. In that day a fountain open to house of David- John 4:1-15 Ax 22:16 Rev 7:9-17 Rev 21:6

2. In that day I will cut off the names of the idols

3. Eliminate Prophets and Fallen Angels [unclean spirit]

B. Jesus Confirms the prophecies

1. Matthew 12:22-29- the casting out of demons comes with the kingdom. Luke 11:14-23

2. 1John 3:8- Jesus came to defeat the devil and his angels

C. The Fallen Angels themselves confirm the prophecies

1. Mark 1:21-23 Jesus came to Destroy them

2. Matthew 8:28-34 There was a selected time for their destruction and Matthew 8 (summer 28AD) is too early.

II. WHAT IS TO HAPPEN TO THE REMAINING FALLEN ANGELS

A. To be Cast into Hades- Luke 8:26-33

1. To be Cast into the Abyss [12]- the bottomless pit, both as the common receptacle of the dead and especially as the abode of Demons.

2. The Abyss is Tartarus in Hades- Rom 10:4-7

     a. By definition the Abyss of Hades is Tartarus in Greek Mythology. {see lessons on Hell and Hades}

     b. This is the same bottomless pit in Revelation.

3. This is connected to the end of True Prophets of God Zech 13:1-6

     a. 1Cor 13:8-13 & James 1:25 Limit the Demons on earth to no later then the Middle of the 2nd century.

     b. Direct connection to New Testament- READ HEB 2:1-4

- Luke 11:14-23 Used to Confirm Jesus bringing the Kingdom

- Mark 16:16-17 Used to Confirm Apostles identity and the Gospel.

     c. Likely that the fallen Angels in Hades were released prior to the Gospel age to aid their brothers on earth to torment those who were not serving God and serve to confirm the coming of Christ and Gospel. Rev 9:1-11

B. To be taken out of their prison in Hades and put in Lake of Fire at the Judgment Day.

1. Matt 25:41- prepared for the devil and his angels.

2. Rev 20:10-15 Devil & Hades cast into Lake of Fire

CONCLUSION: No Demons possess men today. Your sins are your own.
