THE FATE OF THE FALLEN ANGELS BEFORE THE FLOOD

MATTHEW 25:41

I. THE PUNISHMENT OF ANGELS BEFORE THE FLOOD- 2PETER 2:1-9

1. Chronologically placed before the flood- vrs 5

Creation 4114BC * [Angels Sinned] * Flood 2458BC * Job 2200BC

2. Spared them not when they sinned

3. Cast them down to hell [5020]- to thrust down to Tartarus, to hold captive in Tartarus, the name of a subterranean region {in Hades}, doleful and dark, regarded by the ancient Greeks as the abode of the wicked dead, where they suffer punishment for their evil deeds.

4. Committed them to Chains [pits-ASV] of darkness

     a. Committed [3860]- to deliver one up to custody

    b. Chains 4577- a chain of Darkness

     c. Darkness (2217)- darkness, blackness; used of the blackness of the nether world.

5. Reserved unto Judgment

     a. Reserved 5083- to attend to carefully, to guard a prisoner

II. 1Peter 3:17-21

1. Upon Christ's death He was located in Hades- Ax 2:25-32

2. Spoke to Spirits in Prison [in Hades]- Fallen Angels

3. They were disobedient just prior to the Flood.

III. Jude 6

1. Angels that sinned by not keeping to office or home

2. kept in everlasting bonds Kept [5083]-to attend to carefully, to guard a prisoner 

     -Everlasting [126]-eternal, everlasting

3. Under darkness

     -Darkness [2217]-see above

4. Unto the judgment of the great day

CONCLUSION:

1. It is clear that Fallen Angels were put in prison before the Flood.

2. It is equally clear that not all fallen Angels were imprisoned, because the Bible is filled with examples of their activities in both the Old and New Testament. [see previous lessons]

3. As in Humans, some fallen Angels are more evil then others- Matt 12:43-45
